Oct. 24th, 2020 10:56 am![]() ELIOT WAUGH canon: The Magicians. canon point: Season 5, Episode 6. canon cw: Eliot is an alcoholic and frequent drug user, and talks about these things quite flippantly. While those are the two things that will come up most often, he also has a history of trauma, including a childhood of familial abuse and being physically assaulted by bullies throughout school. Other things that may come up are murder/killing, depression, or suicide idealization. His canon also includes themes of rape, pedophilia, and abortion, and while it's unlikely that he'll bring those up, it's important to note. brief bio: On the outside, Eliot seems fairly basic. He likes to dress up and look good, and he's not the sharpest crayon in the box, and he loves a good party. He's deeply troubled, though, having quite severe issues with addiction and self esteem, but when someone manages to get past all that they'll see he's a lot more than that. He's caring and kind, loyal to his friends, and surprisingly selfless when the moment calls for it. He was born and raised in rural Indiana, to a family that didn't like him at all because he was clearly very different than them. He was bullied throughout his youth and ended up in upstate New York for college, which he more or less dropped out of, before he ended up at Brakebills School for Magic. That's where he met the most important people in his life, and it's how he ended up in another world called Fillory. Eliot, it turned out, had the blood of the High King in him so he was saddled with ruling the kingdom until his people turned on him. While all of this was happening, Eliot helped his friends save magic (which was essentially going extinct), but all things come with a cost and he ended up possessed by an ancient entity known as The Monster. Luckily, he survived in a part of his consciousness so he was able to come back to his body. And if that wasn't enough, while Eliot was dealing with the death of a friend after all of that, he was also dealing with Fillory being overtaken by a Dark King and still somehow managed to save the world from the moon exploding. relationship status: Single but it's incredibly complicated. apparent age: Late 20s/28-ish. appearance: Here. identifying marks; Cleft chin. mental state: Eliot is actually coming into the game at one of his stronger points, mentally. He's dealt with his grief and the feelings of loss he had, as well as realizing he's not to blame when it comes to recent events. He just recently dipped back into one of his ultimate low points (a spiral in which he felt helpless and alone), but came out of it by facing all of that head on. He was ready to accept what he thought was The Monster back into his life, he stayed away for endless hours to try to experience mood madness, and on the other end of that he saw that he had more strength in him than he would have previously acknowledged. He's reached a moment where he can openly say he can't always deal with his things on his own and he wants to make amends for that. ABILITIES Eliot's magic abilities are pretty broad reaching. Unlike a lot of popular magic fiction, this isn't something you can wave a wand over and say the right words. Eliot's magic is dependent largely on a series of elaborate hand gestures that need to be practically perfect to achieve the desired effect. It does mean, however, he can do extremely mundane tasks to much more intricate, niche spells. For warping purposes, the magic will sort of "flicker" in and out, working sometimes but never consistently and never with the same amount of power behind it. Beyond just having magic, Eliot's particular, personal discipline is telekinesis, which manifests primarily during difficult emotional circumstances. Save for the one instance where he openly spoke about first noticing it in his teenage years, this is a part of Eliot's powers that remains relatively unseen and unused. When it comes to warping, it will either happen in flickers of smaller instances or leave a physical toll on Eliot in the wake of something major. Eliot's other skills include dressing well, being diplomatic, and mixing a great cocktail.
